Introduction (needs editing)

I'm building this website because it is my desire to build a community of like minded individuals who seek to share their creative output and, like myself, do it for it's own sake. To that end, I'm seeking to create an environment where this community can maintain the ability to evolve according to the desires of all those who contribute to it's development. I'd like for this to happen for the sake of itself and not for any other motive other then the communities enjoyment of such activities. There should be no need to clutter the site with advertising or to charge anyone for their participation, though I haven't ruled out giving people the option to donate money for the upkeep of the site should it be required (which it shouldn't unless bandwidth exceeds my current budget for it). At the end of the day I am not trying to create yet another net-label, I'm already on that journey in one of my other lives (though I wouldn't mind taking what I learn here and apply it there), but rather an dynamic, creative, and self maintained socio-artistic occurrence that is culturally inspiring and personally entertaining (if that even makes sense outside of my own mind).

So that covers the general idea but what are the details? I'm still working on those, but my initial design was to provide a place where contributors would upload their (hour or so long) audio files so that others could then download and enjoy them. Mostly I was thinking about improvisational sets of electronic dance music, specifically techno, but then the idea started to expand into other genres like house, trance, or drum & bass. Now I'm thinking that perhaps there shouldn't be any significant focus on genre, just the idea that all contributions should be about an hour long and improvisational (i.e. hit record and start playing). Let the predominate genre(s) evolve on their own (though I would personally love it to be specifically focused on electronic dance music).

Where does that leave us? Well, as I've mentioned above, I'm looking for others who would like to come along on this journey with me. Obviously, artists who upload their music and others who download it are the two major players on this stage, I'm also on the look out for folks who would like to contribute behind the scenes as well. Moderator, editor, and the occasional administrator users are also desirable. At the same time, while I tend to be a jack-of-all-trades, I am a master of none. I would be totally grateful to anyone who would be willing to sacrifice their time and creative energies working on this website in any manner that their skills may provide (e.g. graphic design, drupal development, cheerleader, event planner, etc...). So if any of this sounds like your cup of tea, please, by all means, register with the website and let me know. I look forward to hearing from you! :D
